Blackmore Primary School Xmas Bazaar Gallery

Fun was had by all at the Blackmore Primary School Christmas Bazaar. Lots of money was raised for the school via stalls, raffles, auctions etc. It's great to see everyone pulling together at this festive time for one of the focal points of the village.

Below are a few photos taken by Myles Lovegrove.

Twenty five years of Tennis

Blackmore Tennis Club celebrated 25th years in October, with a party at the Village Hall attended by over 80 past and present members. The Club honoured Bill Gray, one of the founders and still an active committee and playing member, for his exceptional contribution throughout its 25 years.

On court, congratulations to the Men's 2nd team who won promotion to Division 3 in the Brentwood Summer League.....which will be interesting as both the 1st and 2nd team will be in the same division next season! Blackmore also took part in the LTA Aegon Team Tennis event this Summer and won the Division 3 Essex league.

Despite the Clubs relatively small size, Blackmore runs 3 Mens teams, a Ladies and a Mixed team, with all Club members getting the opportunity to play competitive tennis. We also run social tennis on Tuesday evenings and Sunday mornings and are always keen to see new players.

Our coach Scott Porter runs junior coaching sessions on Saturday mornings as well as individual lessons at other times. At £5 a session, this group coaching represents  very good value and a way for the youngsters in the village to get involved in a great sport, and get some exercise at the same time. Could Blackmore produce the next British Olympic Champion? We certainly have some talented Juniors coming up through the Club.

Coach Scott Porter

A ladies morning runs on Mondays with coach Martyn Davies.  The club would like to encourage more members and particularly needs more ladies to join it’s small squad .  Membership rates are now halved from 1 October – so for £60 per adult you can enjoy 6 months tennis until 31 March 2013.   Membership enquiries are welcomed to Andy Lister on 07790 824106.

So come along and enjoy some social exercise at your thriving local Tennis Club!

The rain held off for what proved to be a perfect evening for fireworks. The show was as magnificent as ever, the burgers the scouts cooked great, and the drinks were free flowing in the club afterwards. A big thank you to everybody that organised and helped.

Clubs Hat Party

From what we hear, the Blackmore Sports and Social clubs Hat Party was a rip-roaring success. Lots of fun and great hats. The event was run by Neil O'Riordan who said, "we are throwing this party every year to help keep the social club alive, it needs all the support it can get". His words ring true, the club is a non profit organisation purely there for the residents of Blackmore, more people should support it.

More pictures on the clubs website HERE.

Blackmore Lottery

It's that time again for the Blackmore Lottery where the winner walks away with a cool £1000! The draw takes place at the Blackmore Sports and Social club on the night of the News Years Eve party. Fantastic turn out for great cause!

Well done to the lovely ladies (and lovely 'young' ladies) who took part in the race for life on Sunday.

The weather was perfect and the atmosphere was fantastic, everyone had a great time and raised money for a very worthy cause.

Village Fayre 2013... plans in motion

The next Blackmore Village Fayre will take place from Friday 24th to Monday 27th May 2013.

Chairman, Heather Eltham says, "Get your thinking caps on for those all-important costumes as I can anticipate: space, aliens, stars, sci-fi, galaxies, etc. In fact the list is endless. The headline charity that we will be supporting is Brainwave which offers home-based therapy to children with development delay and disabilities such as cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and autism. Of course we are always on the lookout for volunteers and helpers at the fayre. So, if you do want to get involved, then please give me a call on 01277 821824 or email me at elthams@btinternet.com (please make the subject heading as BVF 2013).

We all look forward to the Fayre every two years, but most don't realise how much hard work goes into organising it, so please contact Heather on the above details, you will get a lot of job satisfaction and make new friends.

Check out the official Village Fayre website: www.blackmorefayre.co.uk

Scout walking fun

Well another Scout walk over and a mighty fine one at that. It was great to see so many people turn up and the weather doing its job correctly for a change. The half way stop (campsite) is truly welcome, with the hog roast, Pauls infamous vegetarian stew, bread pudding and enough mulled wine to see one through the remainder of the walk.

A big thank you goes out to the scouts and their helpers, some who camp overnight. A lot of hard work is put it, I should know, i've been there and done that. But these guys keep doing it year after year... Well done!

Tip Toe Through The Tombstones

After the success of their play, Night Must Fall, Blackmore players are presenting their latest comedy offering...

Tip Toe Through the Tombstones
Some months have passed since the ghastly events in Monument House, well known to those familiar with Norman Robbins’ earlier A Tomb with a View. Now Mortimer Crayle, the crusty old lawyer, and his secretary Zoe, have gathered the last remaining Tomb family members at the old house, ostensibly to inform them about their inheritance. But Crayle has designs on the inheritance which demand the deaths of all the Tombs. Fog descends on the gloomy mansion and things, and people, are seldom what they seem. With poison in every decanter and mysterious disappearances into secret passageways, hosts and guests alike join the increasing number of bodies in the cellar. A glorious spoof, a worthy sequel to A Tomb with a View, although previous acquaintance with the Tombs is not required!

Thursday 27th September 2012, starts 20:00, price £6.00
Friday 28th September 2012, starts 20:00, price £8.00
Saturday 29th September 2012, starts 20:00, price £8.00

All productions take place in Blackmore Village Hall. Tickets are available by ringing 01277 372386. The postcode of the Village Hall is CM4 0QR. Visit their website for more details www.blackmoreplayers.co.uk

Hat Party at the Club

Blackmore Sports and Social Club have just announced the return of its infamous Hat Party. The date is Saturday 27th October and the starting time 7.30pm. Everybody has to wear a hat (obviously). There will be a disco and the launch of the "Blackmore Lottery". It all sounds fun, and judging from last years picture, it certainly was! More details at www.blackmoressc.co.uk.

Scouts Annual Parish Walk

The much loved Annual Parish Walk organised by the Scouts will take place on Sunday 16th September. The walk starts at the Blackmore Primary School car park and sets off between 11am and 1pm.

There is a Hog Roast half way through, and as the walk is five miles, it will be a welcoming sight!

Entry forms are available from the post office or from John Cannon on 01277 822364. A lot of work goes in to organising this, I should know, I had to help once, so please make the effort and come along. It's dog friendly also. Drinks afterwards in the Blackmore Sports and Social Club.

The return of the path

While walking my dog around the millennium field, I discovered to my wife's delight, that the path was back, fully complete and joined back together. We had wondered if it was ever going to return, but had no idea who to ask.

This is where our website comes in. News and information will be updated every day, even if its just for those trivial things like a broken path.

While I'm on the subject, the new bit looks great, the rest not so good.
